Diagnosed with Endometriosis

For those of you who might be unfamiliar to what is endometriosis I thought I’d share some info and my experience with it.

What is endometriosis- Endometriosis occurs when endometrial tissue grows outside of the uterus on other organs or structures in the body. This causes pain, irregular bleeding, and problems with infertility.

This blog post is mainly to share my experiences and how I cope

When I was 18 I had this excruciating pain during “that time of the month”. For two years I dealt with doctors telling me that it was “normal”, to take Ibprophen and that I was too young to have endometriosis and even if I did have it that removing my ovaries was the only thing they could do! It wasn’t till I was 20 that I finally got some answers!. A week later I had an ultrasound done and there you have it , I was diagnoses with endometriosis. Not gonna lie I balled my eyes out ..I was thankful that my mom was their to hold my hand. The Dr. said that I needed to get a laparoscopy done ASAP !.

LaparoscopyA short surgical procedure performed through a very small
incision in the abdomen (usually the belly button). A laparoscope is inserted into the incision, and it
gives the physician an exceptionally clear view, on a television
monitor, of the inside of the abdominal cavity.

I didnt’t care how many times the Dr. said I wasn’t going to feel anything because I was going to be asleep. I had never broken a bone and now I needed to get cut open. .. needless to say my mom went with me and all  I remember is telling the nurse I was scared and then waking up feeling like a bloated whale and 3 cysts lighter. I was told to take BC so that it would control the growth of the endometriosis. Oh! and I was left with a scar on my belly button that my husband thinks is the cutest =)
Now..-
I still suffer from ALL the endometriosis symptoms somedays more then others. So I’ve done some life changes to help subside the symptoms. ( I’ll get into this at a later time)

If you have a story you’d like to share -Please do so on here ..I’d love to here all about it-

  1. I have Endometriosis too! Have had it since I was around 18. I married my highschool sweetheart and we wanted to be parents more than anything in the world. But it never happened for us. we couldn't afford any fertility treatments and just left it in God's hands. It took us years to be okay with it all. Now this year we have been together a total of 22 years, married 12 of those years and we're finally at a place where we are okay with it. But it sure was a long journey to get here. I still have a lot of pain but have been to scared to get a total hysterectomy. I'm 38 now and have just learned to love everyone else's children and be content with our life as is. But it is deff a struggle. I wish you the best in the world! 🙂
