Easy DIY Porch Sign

DIY Porch Sign

Happy Friday Friends! It’s Friday and I’m posting a blog post! I used to do two blog posts a week but with everything IVF going on I could only manage one but I’ll be posting more frequently on Monday’s and Friday! Today’s blog post is one that I couldn’t wait any longer to share with you all! Our Easy DIY Porch Sign!

A bit of back story though before we dive into this. I had been looking for a porch sign off and on for about a month or so and could not find one that was what I wanted. They were either too skinny or not the right colors. Also they would take around 2-3 weeks to get and well that was just too long for me! Which is what lead me to having this genius idea of making my own porch sign and again since Simply Sutter is based on SIMPLICITY I feel like I completely created that with this DIY project!

  1. Remove all stickers as best as possible
  2. Paint wood board with 2 coats of white paint
  3. Paint all letters in with black paint * it is easier if you use the roller then brush fro cracks ( Also I DIDN’T paint back of the letters )
  4. Next cut the craft wood to the length of the board
  5. Paint the the craft wood and let dry
  6. Once everything is completely dry place letters on board where you want them to lay
  7. Place trim craft wood at the top and bottom
  8. Using wood glue, glue all of your pieces down
  9. Place a few heavy items on top of letters to help them stay flat overnight
  10. Remove heavy items and place sign where you would like!

We went with a welcome porch sign but you can of course change it to be whatever you like! Christmas, Fall, Hello the possibilities are endless really! The colors could even be changed to fit your home more as well! I’m really happy with how it turned out! The white ┬áreally pops against are taupe house color. Now if only I could paint the entire house on the outside white we would be GOLDEN! Insert eye roll because that’s never going to happen. Adding in white accents really does help though!

On the back of this same sign I’m actually going to have it say something else. I just need to find the correct size of wooden letters or stencil. Then really it will be a reversible sign!

Now, that you know how to make your own porch sign are you going to be making your own?

Come back Monday for a new post that will give your fall wardrobe the best ideas!
